Choir Breath

In the last years, choral samples have been captured with masterful perfection by different producers. A few of the most recent libraries have also implemented syllable duplication techniques and the ability to sing custom lyrics, but it is still a demanding task to create realistic MIDI mock-ups for films, TV and video games soundtracks.

When comparing a musical piece produced with choir samples with real performances, it's easy to realized that breath is far more than a noise in this context. Musically speaking, it is a subtle but important detail that can make a difference in terms of realism.

Choir Breath is a sample library consisting exclusively of choral breath samples, produced for composers that already own a choir library and are in search of tools for improving the impact of their MIDI mock-ups with additional details.

_AUDIO DEMOS
bar end
The following audio demos are provided just to give an idea of the basic concept behind this sample library and to let you hear how the samples really match the tone of every choir section.

Of course, the use of Choir Breath in these demos is also a matter of taste. You may want to use it in a different way and you can, because the Kontakt programs included with this sample library let you shape the envelope of every breath in realtime as you like, to easily match the tempo and dynamics of your song.
This audio example utilizes sounds from EastWest's Gold XP Orchestra and Symphonic Choirs (Boys) combined with Choir Breath (Young Choir).
Same as above but with Choir Breath track set 6dB louder just to let you understand how and where Choir Breath is used. Please note that Choir Breath should be used with more moderation to achieve a natural effect.
Another demo with sounds from Eastwest's Gold XP Orchestra and Symphonic Choir (Alto) combined with Choir Breath (Women). In this example, Choir Breath has been used 12 times.
Same as above but without Choir Breath. Please, compare this version with the previous example listening with particular attention to the beginning of the piece and to the moments before every fortissimo.
You will note that the version with Choir Breath is more natural and closer to a real performance. A choir simply cannot sing without taking breath.
Eastwest's Symphonic Choir (Alto) and Choir Breath (Women) without orchestra.
